Grade Level Parents
This is a very important role without a major time commitment! We need parents from each grade to help us regularly communicate across all classrooms in your grade (via Konstella and flyers), get feedback from your teachers and to arrange teacher gifts at the holidays and year-end.
Your role will help ensure equitable distribution of information and resources to our teachers and parents. You will coordinate with the VP of Community on the PTA Board.
The Bat Signal
This is the team to call on when help is needed. You’re a crew of do gooders, crafters and/or strong people who can be our first port of call for random odd jobs, projects or physical labor, when we shouldn’t blast a spammy request out to all parents.
This committee will never meet formally.
Benefit & Auction Committee
This is the PTA’ s largest fundraiser of the year. Help the Board with planning the Parent’s Night Out Auction.
Fifth Grade Activities Committee
Coordinate with the PTA Board, school administration, and 5th grade teachers to implement grade-specific fundraising and planning for year end commencement celebrations including.
Any expenses must be approved by the PTA Board in advance.
5th Grade Yearbook Committee
Coordinate with PTA Board, 5th grade administration parents and Graduation Committee to handle all aspects of design, ordering and distribution of the 5th Grade Yearbook.
Any additional yearbook fundraising efforts beyond the allocated budget must be in coordination with the 5th Grade Graduation Committee and approved by the PTA Board.
Design & Communications Committee

Grant Writing & Participatory Budget Committee
Join other parents with grant-writing experience to fund important projects at 38. No prior experience necessary. Get Money.
What is the Participatory Budget?
– The city awards $35million to projects that would improve schools, parks, libraries, public housing, and other public spaces in our community. PS 38 won the votes to renovate bathrooms on the 3rd floor in a recent cycle. They are now collecting ideas for the next cycle.
-As a PTA, we should discuss what the needs are. This Grant Committee should submit an idea for a project that would improve our school’s neighborhood, publicize it, and help get votes to win. https://council.nyc.gov/pb/

Wellness Council

HAAPI
Heritage Asian American Pacific Islander (HAAPI) is centered on fostering broader awareness, celebration, and representation of the diverse culture and heritage of the AAPI community at PS 38 through social and cultural engagements culminating in AAPI Heritage month in May.
We are PS38 Parents dedicated to sharing our collective AAPI stories to make the invisible silent minority – fully seen. We are motivated out of our love and the desire to pass our histories, legacies and lineage down to our children. We welcome everyone – who identifies as such and anyone who would like to learn and celebrate the AAPI communities.
